Mike Vick's "Friends" Roll Over
Jason Whitlock, filling in for Jim Rome yesterday, made a good point about the Mike Vick situation. He found it ironic that Vick never left his roots by still hanging with his old friends from the hood, but as soon as his friends felt some pressure they ratted him out like the punks they are. We could talk about the crime but that has been done to death. If he is guilty he has done a terrible thing & will be punished. Vick could have left all his friends behind but the did not. Hell, he even bought his cousin a house! He should have left the thugs behind or made it clear that they needed to change for the better instead of him having to lower himself to their standards. When a man signs a 100 million dollar contract he is a business and his lifestyle must change somewhat. The problem I have with the media is the constant assertion that he is going to jail. He is still innocent until proven otherwise. The media apparently thinks that the FBI (federal gov't) cannot make a mistake or even lie. As for the punk friends who are probably going to testify against Vick. Why are they believable? Can Mike Vick not say they were the heads of the dog fighting ring? What makes them the ones to believe? They are basically being paid, with less jail time, to say what the feds want them to say. If I were on the jury I would make sure it was hung. And I think dog fighting is despicable, but the way the media has handled this and the way the gov't will use this situation to promote itself makes me almost throw up on myself.
